Quality Razor Strops for Straight Razor Shaving Available at Vintage Blades

A proper strop is an integral part of straight razor shaving. A straight razor needs to be stropped each time before use to align the edge and keep it sharp enough to cut your beard effortlessly.

When using a hanging strop for daily pre-shave stropping, start on the "canvas" side and perform 20 complete passes or round trips on the strop, up and back. Then switch to the leather side and perform 20-25 passes, up and back each time before shaving. Also, it should be remembered that the purpose of stropping is not to remove material, but rather to straighten up and align the microscopic teeth that are at the edge of the blade. When the strop no longer keeps a razor sharp enough to shave, it is time to use an abrasive pasted paddle strop or a hone.
