Belgian Coticules
Belgian Colicules are natural stones used as finishing stones on knives, straight razors, and various woodworking tools, usually after first achieving the desired edge on another stone of a lesser grit. Since there are various standards for rating the relative grit of of individual stones and other abrasive products, some rate Belgian Yellow Coticules at 8000 grit, others at 10-12,000 grit. Being a natural product, however, the stones do vary.
Coticules are non-porous and need no soaking. Just add some water to the surface of the stone and it is ready for use.
